As you explore the site, you may notice an interesting sound.

The sound you hear belongs to the Coquí, one of the island’s most recognizable and cherished voices. Named after its famous “ko-kee” call, this tiny tree frog is found only in Puerto Rico and holds a special place in local culture.

Known scientifically as Eleutherodactylus coqui, the Coquí grows only 1–2 inches long, yet its sound fills entire forests each night. Unlike other frogs, it is born fully formed, skipping the tadpole stage entirely.

So when you hear this call while exploring the network, you’re not just browsing beaches — you’re stepping into the soul of the island.

Welcome to EscambronBeach.com!
Your guide to one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic Blue Flag beaches!

Escambron.com

A Blue Flag Beach is a beach that has earned the prestigious Blue Flag eco-label, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). This award signifies that the beach meets high standards of environmental management, water quality, safety, and services. Essentially, it's a globally recognized symbol of a clean, safe, and well-managed beach.

Escambrón is one of San Juan’s most iconic beaches, known for its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and unique setting near Old San Juan. Popular with both locals and travelers, Escambrón Beach blends natural beauty with historic charm, thanks to its nearby landmarks like the Batería del Escambrón and Fortín de San Gerónimo. Families enjoy its calm swimming areas, shaded picnic spots, and golden sand, while snorkelers and divers love exploring the reef’s marine life. With lifeguards on duty, clean facilities, and easy access from San Juan, Escambrón consistently ranks as one of the top urban beaches in Puerto Rico right alongside Isla Verde Beach.

At EscambronBeach.com, Our Mission is to provide visitors with everything they need for an unforgettable day at the beach. From snorkeling and scuba tours to kayaking, paddleboarding, and nearby cultural experiences, we keep you updated with the best things to do, beach hours, parking information, and real-time weather and safety tips.

🌊 Beach Etiquette & Conservation

  • Leave no trace – Take everything you bring with you and leave the beach cleaner than you found it.
  • Respect wildlife – Observe from a distance and never feed animals. If you spot sea turtles, give them space.
  • Protect turtle nests – Avoid disturbing marked nesting areas and keep bright lights off the beach at night.
  • Support local businesses – Choose local food, shops, and tours when you can—your trip directly supports Puerto Rico’s communities.
  • Dispose of trash responsibly – Use bins when available, and if they’re full, take your trash with you.
  • Use reef-safe sunscreen – Many nature reserves require it. Reef-safe products help protect coral and marine life.
  • Keep music at a respectful volume – Preserve the natural soundscape so everyone can enjoy the beach.
